Court case about million-dollar fraud and alleged recovery services

The fact that there are dubious providers for online trading and questionable service providers for the recovery of lost money is currently shown by the trial in Saarbrücken against the alleged operator of several platforms – including XMarkets, Zoomtrader, Option888, TradeInvest90 as well as TradoVest.

In a good three and a half years, the investigating authorities from Saarbrücken carried out 35 raids against the alleged fraud network in several European countries and secured a total of 5.1 terabytes of data. On 03 May 2022, the trial started against the first defendant S.

In summer 2019, the Saarbrücken investigators had raided a call centre together with the Kosovar authorities.

Shortly afterwards, S. was arrested during his summer holiday in Albania. Since then, he had been in extradition custody there for around a year and had been waiting in Germany for the start of the trial since mid-2020. The accused is accused of operating several trading platforms and depriving hundreds of people of their savings.

In addition, there are suspicions that he and accomplices were also behind alleged services to recover misinvested sums of money. This is a scam known as the recovery scam, and it is usually backed by the same people who previously committed the trading scam.

The damage caused by the gang, to which S. is also said to belong, is enormous. In the trial before the Regional Court, the amount of damages is about 42 million euros. According to investigations, there are more than 1,100 investors or injured parties.

On average, the amount of damage is about 35,000 euros, the highest individual damage is even 5.5 million euros, according to the public prosecutor’s office.

In court, only those cases are at issue where the injured parties have either filed a criminal complaint or where the damage exceeds 5,000 euros. The total damage caused by the gang is probably much higher. Are you an injured party of Jones & Rossmann and would like to reclaim your money?

Jones & Rossmann – Is the service provider pursuing ominous intentions?

Currently, there are a large number of service providers offering their help with legal problems in online trading, such as Jones & Rossmann. This is also due to the fact that investing in the unpredictable financial markets has never been as easy but also risky as it is today.

Have you already been a client of Jones & Rossmann? If so, the following aspects are important for you.

  • Does the website have a complete imprint?
  • Secure websites, costs, offer options and customer reviews are just some of the features you should consider when making your choice.
  • Ask yourself: What is the name of the contact person I should get in touch with?

The other information is general advice for customers – regardless of the service provider they wish to entrust themselves to.

What criteria can be used to recognise dubious offers?

Defrauded investors have a wide range of offers of help at their disposal, with trustworthy and questionable providers vying for their favour. There are many signs that a service or even an offer does not inspire confidence, and it is essential to have a look at this.

Here you can find out what details to look out for in the event that you have lost your hard-earned fortune. Service companies like Jones & Rossmann are only allowed to operate in Germany with state authorisation.

The providers may have received authorisation, but this in no way means that the products sold are of good quality. Before you pay money to a service provider, you should think about your goals and examine the provider carefully. Do not rush the process. Do not make a decision immediately, even if you have consulted with others.

Exceptional development potential or enormously high returns

Assess how confidence-inspiring Jones & Rossmann’s offer is. Is the chance of success of the company presented to you exceptionally high? Do you have to pay money upfront for the services? These offers are usually nothing more than a deception.

Be sure that there are often con artists hiding behind these tempting opportunities. These offers of help usually involve no action at all. Consequently, examine how honest the offer from Jones & Rossmann is.

Scams are often implemented by con artists in almost the same way. Help with payout problems with trading brokers is prominently advertised on the Internet. The criminals emphasise that they are guaranteed to bring back the lost assets.

Those who agree to this are consulted by a fictitious advisor. The fraud victims are then presented with supposed recovery attempts after paying the money.

Pump & Dump – Definition

The term pump & dump is used to describe a situation in which the value of a share is unnaturally inflated by insiders. The same share is then sold again at a loss to other investors. This is therefore a fraud. A fraud that profits from the inexperience of small investors and stock market novices.

This strategy is therefore prohibited in a controlled stock market and for providers such as Jones & Rossmann. The crypto market, in contrast, is still largely “Wild West” as far as such tactics are concerned.

Therefore, special attention is indispensable! Pump-and-dump scams are more common there in connection with the altcoins commonly referred to as such. The pump-and-dump scam is used by fraudsters to inflate the value of a currency that is not known or even created by their own hands.

They achieve this by propagating disinformation online or on social media, or by luring fellow investors with unreasonable profit expectations.

Recognising investment fraud in general

Investment fraud is a special form of fraud. The criminal pretends his supposed success to a large circle of people. Subsequent services and measures may sometimes qualify as investment fraud:

  • Holdings in securities, funds and certificates
  • Boiler room scam, a cold call seeking backers by phone call
  • Shareholdings in companies
  • Unsolicited telephone advertising calls, so-called cold calling

Those who have fallen for investment fraudsters have often invested a lot of money. What can you do in case of investment fraud?

  1. Revoking or contesting contracts: Affected persons who have concluded a contract can revoke or contest it in the case of investment fraud.
  2. Reclaiming capital: If payments have been made via credit card, in many cases this can be reclaimed by instructing a law firm. In the case of bank transfers from the current account, this can usually be recovered by bank order.
  3. Claim damages: Clients who were improperly informed can claim damages from the investment advisor.
  4. Involve the police and financial supervisory authority via a legal advisor: There are police collection procedures against specific fraudulent companies in Germany and also abroad. The police are entitled to have the accounts of the rip-off artists blocked and the money seized. In addition, the public prosecutor’s office is called in.

Recovery Scam – alleged service to recover funds

Anyone who has ever lost assets to a fraudulent investment platform knows how devastating it can be. That alone is bad enough. But on top of that, the scammers behind the bogus scheme contact you by email or phone in a manageable amount of time.

This time, however, they do not pretend to be investment advisors. Instead, they guarantee to help you recover your lost capital in exchange for an advance payment.

This is supposedly how Jones & Rossmann also works. Many criminals even seem to have been hired or commissioned by trustworthy companies such as a financial regulator. After stealing your personal data, the rip-off artists often pose as good Samaritans.

They guarantee to help you recover the stolen money. Even if you have invested money with a provider like Jones & Rossmann, your contact information may be stolen.

Anyone who has lost a considerable amount of money is usually desperate. The criminals take advantage of people’s desperation by calling themselves “recovery companies”. They offer their services under the guise of helping them get their funds back. That is, they dubiously guarantee that they will get back the lost assets.

How do you get your money back from Jones & Rossmann? Our law firm helps

You have paid money to Jones & Rossmann, or another provider, for supposed services? But now nothing else seems to be happening? Then it is advisable to stop further payments immediately. This is especially true if the service provider keeps adding further costs. Incidentally, you should try to recover the money you have lost.

In this case, injured parties can turn to the lawyers of our law firm. Our law firm examines civil law as well as criminal law options and possible claims for damages against the service provider and against involved payment service providers such as financial institutions.

“A private investor who loses even more capital in the course of his measures to recover the sums invested is by no means an isolated case. Numerous investors are blinded by the professional behaviour of the providers and only realise too late that the supposed helpers do nothing.”

Our advice is therefore not to despair, but to react swiftly and with commitment. Because the prospect of recovering the lost capital is usually greater than the aggrieved private investors realise.
